RALEIGH — The following is a live blog of the gubernatorial race between incumbent Republican Gov. Pat McCrory and Democratic challenger Roy Cooper. Several polls show the race in a statistical tie with a slight edge favoring Cooper.

A staffer has informed us that Cooper is watching the results from his home with his family. He is expected to deliver a victory or concession speech here at the Marriott City Center once the results are revealed.

North Carolina polling sites close at 7:30 p.m., but the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) voted to extend hours in eight Durham County precincts. Time extensions range from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. Durham is one of. the most heavily populated counties in the state, so this could give Democrats an extra edge.
