Elon’s Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated hosted their Spread the Love event Feb. 13, where students made and decorated chocolate-covered strawberries and created cards and bracelets for teddy bears.
Delta Sigma Theta Vice President and Elon senior Maleah Proctor said she hopes the event was able to bring people together.
“We're hoping people firstly have fun and also take something away about how to interact with different individuals and different types of love and different types of love languages, while also getting something for their valentine and just coming together,” Proctor said.
Proctor also credited the community aspect as a reason for hosting the event.
“We always like to have a space where the community can come together,” Proctor said. “Valentine's Day is on the horizon. So what better way to celebrate the community and bring people together than to make cute valentines and just celebrate the holiday?”
Elon junior Murphy Davis, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., said she hopes the event gave students a chance to meet new people.
I'm just really hoping someone can make something nice for someone that they really care about, and really just culminate the season of love,” Davis said.
Davis said she hopes the activities help with bonding.
“I'm really excited for the chocolate-covered strawberry making, and I'm really excited just for people to just pick up little knick-knacks that really relate to someone that they care about," Davis said.
