Ian Baltutis and Joey Cook Sr have won the Burlington primary election for mayor. The two candidates move to the general election Nov. 5 where voters will elect the new mayor for the City of Burlington.

Baltutis received 67.84% of the votes. Cook was 47.85% behind him receiving 19.99% of the votes.

If re-elected, mayor Baltutis' goals include continuing programs and policies he's started in his current term. Joey Cook Sr.'s goal would be helping the elderly.

The deadline for Burlington residents to register to vote in the general municipal election is Friday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. Residents have to fill out a voter registration form and deliver it to the Alamance County Board of Elections or mail the form with a postmark on or before the deadline.
