Elon University junior Billy Beresford is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28. He was arrested early on the morning of Monday, August 28th on a charge of driving while impaired. 

According to Elon University Police Department, Officer Jason Loye was patrolling the area when he noticed a car traveling 56 mph on East Haggard Avenue. 

Upon further inspection, Beresford showed indications of alcohol consumption and he subsequently blew 0.11 on a breath test. He was charged with one count of driving while impaired and released on a $500 bond. 

Beresford is a member of the Elon University soccer team as a redshirt Sophomore. He appeared in 15 games in 2015 and then redshirted the following year. 

Elon News Network reached out to Beresford for comment, but he did not respond.
