Raleigh -— The streets of Raleigh are quiet, with few stragglers traipsing the streets. Meanwhile, in Raleigh Marriott City Center, the Ross campaign headquarters is buzzing with speculation, illuminated by dozens of camera lights, and filled with palpable suspense. The following is a live blog of the North Carolina senate race between challenger Deborah Ross and incumbent Richard Burr.

BURR HQ 11:00

"Team Burr" poses for photos and crowds Burr as he exits the stage. The crowd is excited, and optimistic about a Trump presidency. Half the crowd is around Burr, the other half is around the TVs streaming Fox News. As more states turn red, the crowd gets happier.

ROSS HQ 10:43

Deborah Ross, decked in Democratic blue, takes the stage flanked by her immediate family. She says, "this is not the outcome we hoped for, but I have no regrets."

Ross accepts the election results graciously, thanking all those who helped her along the campaign trail. She shares emotional anecdotes about the people she met on her tour of 90 North Carolinian counties, lets us know that she recognizes the needs of the people, and promises to continue serving them. Conclusively, Ross cites Harvey Dent as an inspiration, and implies in this that she may run again.

BURR HQ 10:30

Burr speaks to his campaign HQ supporters. He reflects on his 22 years representing the state of North Carolina. His first election, he says, he was supported by his parents as they stood by him while he accepted his election. The next term, only his father stood by him, but Burr says he figured his mother was still cheering him on.

Now, entering his third term, Burr only has his wife and kids behind him on the stage. He says he ran in his last term for the future generation, including his grandchild - so that they'll be able to pursue their "dream careers." He also touched on his passion for and plans to work with veterans and in memory of his father. His speech ended with a quote from his father: "There's always work to be done by living, it's our responsibility to get in the action."

BURR HQ 10:20

Fox News predicts re-election for Senator Burr, with 89% of precincts reporting and Burr with a 7% lead over Ross.

ROSS HQ 9:39

At the current time, Ross is down 4%. However, Democratic supporters here stay positive as Clinton gains electoral votes.

BURR HQ 9:28

Speaking with some of the Burr supporters here, they seem confident in Burr keeping his Senate seat. One Republican supporter in attendance, Reggie of Winston-Salem, says he is "optimistic" about voter turnout.

Reggie says he attends election gatherings like this because he wants to see how it turns out, "good or bad." He predicts a Burr win by 5 points. Similar sentiments are heard from most of the crowd here. More cheers with each red state.

ROSS HQ 9:01

"Regardless of the outcome, we will remain relentlessly proud of the campaign we have run in North Carolina to elect Roy Cooper and Deborah Ross. This has been a campaign for the history books, and I look forward to lot of good news," attests Price.

ROSS HQ 8:59

Congressman David Price, of North Carolina's North Congressional District, takes to the stage, and thanks attendees for supporting him as he commits to another term in Washington.

BURR HQ 8:50

The crowd has grown to about 200 Burr supporters, all with confident and positive outlooks for Senator Burr to pull out the win. They've cheered with each state won by Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president. Still no sign of Burr, no speeches. Just eating, drinking, and chatting.

ROSS HQ 8:41

"It won't come as a surprise to you that teachers have a target on their back under the current administration, and we need change. As educators, this election has been about the heart and soul of our country, and the future of our children in North Carolina," states Jewell.

ROSS HQ 8:39

Keever introduces Mark Jewell, President of North Carolina Association of Educators.

ROSS HQ 8:87

"I am happy to say that I stand with her."

ROSS HQ 8:37

Keever says, "We are the Democrats, standing for higher quality schools, better teacher pay. For a clean environment, and better drinking water. The Republicans simply have the wrong priorities."

ROSS HQ 8:35

Chair of the NCDP, Patsy Keever takes the stage, and thanks the crowd for being with the party on the long road.

ROSS HQ 8:32

As of right now, Ross is shown ahead of Burr by 3% of the vote. The energy in the room is electric. People are incredibly enthused, chanting and waving their hands in the air.

ROSS HQ 8:00

The community amassed in the room, consisting of largely Democrats, cheers wildly as MSNBC begins broadcasting projected successes for presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.

BURR HQ 7:53

About 50 supporters have arrived in the ballroom. They're setting up "Richard Burr, U.S. Senate" signs around the room. Fox News is on in the background as people are excitedly milling around.

BURR HQ 7:30

Reporters fill the room as the employees of the Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem prepare for 200+ guests. North Carolina Polls are closing, with Durham precincts as exceptions.

ROSS HQ 7:15

People are beginning to file into the Conference Center before the event. The air in the room is of tepid optimism.

ROSS HQ 7:04

Employee Monica McSwaine tells us that the hotel has been planning to host the NCDP tonight for three months. Extensive planning shows in the rigid organization we've seen throughout the event.

ROSS HQ 6:00 P.M.

The Conference Room is calm; dozens of reporters from the far reaches of North Carolina and beyond waiting for the main event.
