In the final weekend of the regular season, a pair of school records were broken by the Elon women’s track and field team. Competing at the Virginia Challenge at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., May 9-10, senior Allyson Oram and sophomore Tereza Novotna rewrote the record books.

Friday at Lannigan Field, Novotna ran a 10:32.05 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event. Her previous school record stood as a 10:33.40, which she set in April. Novotna placed 11th out of 13 competitors in the event.

Oram clocked a 16:37.72 during Saturday’s 5,000-meter run, a mark 22 seconds quicker than her previous school record of 16:59.38. Oram finished eighth of 19 runners in the finals of the 5,000-meters.

Next up, select members of the Phoenix will compete at the NCAA East Regional May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
