A source with a direct connection to the Elon University football team tells The Pendulum that Rich Skrosky will be named the new head coach of Elon football. The current offensive coordinator at Ball State University, Skrosky served as an assistant at Elon from 2006-10 under former head coach Pete Lembo. From 2006-08, Skrosky was the Phoenix's offensive line coach, and became offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2009 and 2010.
The 1987 graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey will be a head coach for the first time since 1992, when he led his alma mater for one season. From there, Skrosky was an assistant at Monmouth College for eight seasons and Columbia University for five before arriving at Elon.
While Skrosky was at Elon, the Phoenix posted four winning seasons. His first season as offensive coordinator was the school’s lone berth in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs in 2009. Skrosky guided quarterback Scott Riddle in the final two seasons of a career in which Riddle passed for a Southern Conference record 13,264 yards. That year, wide receiver Terrell Hudgins hauled in 1,633 receiving yards, a Southern Conference record.
At Ball State from 2011-13, Skrosky has found continued success. This season, Ball State has passed for an average of 333.3 yards per game, good for ninth in the nation. He has coached several Cardinals players to top-ten national rankings in major statistical categories such as passing yards and receiving yards.
