Thursday night’s SGA Senate meeting marked the last day of the 2012-2013 legislative year. The 2013-2014 Senate and the Executive Council will convene for the first time after Spring Break.

SGA Executive Vice President Connor O’Donnell thanked the Senate members for their hard work and support during a challenging legislative year. He said he was proud of the way the SGA handled the Chick-fil-A controversy on campus. Several Senate members expressed similar sentiments.

In a 20-1-0 vote, the Senate passed a special allocation to fund the production of a mobile solar generator. The generator, which will be built by two engineering students, will decrease Elon’s energy intake for years after it’s built.

“I think it’s powerful when a lot of creative minds get together and think of something as sustainable and progressive as this,” said Ricky Rosati, assistant executive treasurer. “It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”

In other news, the SGA is working with the administration to redesign Elon’s tailgating setup. Possible locations, which include the area around Lake Mary Nell and the Oaks area apartments, will be presented mid-April.

“A lot of great stuff is coming through,” O’Donnell said.
