The Elon University men’s tennis team defeated Texas-Pan American in a weather-shortened contest by the score of 4-0. The two sides played only singles matches as a precautionary measure for the impending weather, but the rains never came.

Nonetheless, Elon’s Cameron Siverman, who came into the match ranked No. 26 nationally in singles, dropped just one game in his victory. The junior defeated freshman Thomas Panoulas 6-0, 6-2.

Sophomore Stefan Fortmann defeated junior Ricardo Hopker in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Robert Lindgren also won his match in straight sets. The freshman made quick work of junior Chetan Panditi 6-3, 6-0.

Finally sophomore  Brian Kowalski knocked off junior Sebastien Job in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to clinch the victory for the Phoenix.

Sophomore Juan Madrid and senior Carlos Arboleda each started matches, but both won the first sets of their respective matches.

The Phoenix will return to conference play at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 when Davidson College comes to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
