Junior Cameron Silverman gave No. 36 Wake Forest University’s top singles players all he could handle, but he, like the Elon men’s tennis team, dropped his match as the Phoenix fell 6-1 on Sunday, Feb. 10 in Winston-Salem.

Elon’s only match victory came from the No. 6 singles match and sophomore Brian Kowalski. He defeated Wake Forest freshman Sam Bloom, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-5).

Elon sophomore Stefan Fortmann took the first set of his match against Amogh Prabhakar, but the senior recovered to take the final two sets.

Freshman Robert Lindgren and sophomores Jordan Kaufman and Juan Madrid followed suit with Fortmann while the Phoenix dropped all three doubles matches to the overpowering Demon Deacons.

The loss drops Elon to 1-3 on the young season while the victory brings the Demon Deacons to 9-2.

The Phoenix return to the court for their first home spring matches of the season against Wingate University and Washington & Lee University on Saturday, Feb. 16 starting at 9:30 p.m.
