From start to finish, the Elon University men’s basketball team was in total control, ending the 2012 portion of the season with a convincing 84-49 win over Manchester University Dec. 31.

Elon (8-5) never trailed in the game, jumping out early and holding Manchester (4-7) to 18.5 percent shooting in the first half on 5 of 27 from the floor. The Phoenix took a commanding 40-11 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Junior guard Jack Isenbarger led Elon with 14 points in just 23 minutes. Junior forward Ryley Beaumont recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Three Elon players recorded career-highs in points. Senior guards Aaron Smith and John Moody scored five and four points, respectively, while sophomore guard Kevin Blake recorded eight points on 4 of 4 from the field.

Manchester sophomore guard Silas Sims led all scorers with 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Senior forward David House tallied eight points and five rebounds.

Elon has one more game outside of Southern Conference play when it welcomes Princeton University to Alumni Gym on Saturday, Jan. 5.

In the first matchup between the two schools, Elon edged the Tigers last season on the road, 56-55 on Nov. 22, 2011. Tip between Elon and Princeton is set for 12 p.m.
