Elon University men’s basketball head coach Matt Matheny released the 2012-2013 basketball schedule this afternoon.

The season gets underway on Nov. 10 with a road matchup against the Butler University Bulldogs. The game is part of the of the EA Sports Maui Invitational Opening Games. The Phoenix will also host a branch of the Maui Invitational Regional Games on Nov. 17 and 18 when they welcome Colgate, Florida Atlantic and Coppin State to Alumni Gym.

The Phoenix will look to capitalize on last year’s win over the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in Alumni Gym with a roadtrip to Columbia, S.C. on Nov. 21. Elon topped the Gamecocks last year by a score of 58-53, which marked the program’s first ever win over a Southeastern Conference opponent.

Also on the schedule is a trip to Duke University to take on the Duke Blue Devils on Dec. 20. Elon made the same trip to Durham two seasons ago for a matchup with then No. 1 Duke, losing 98-72.

Just like last year, Elon has two early SoCon matchups on the schedule. The Phoenix will travel to Statesboro, Ga for a matchup with Georgia Southern on Nov. 28 before returning home on Dec. 1 to take on College of Charleston

After topping Princeton last year on the road in New Jersey, the Phoenix will welcome the Tigers to Alumni Gym to close out their non-conference schedule on Jan. 5, 2013.
