Christopher Glockson II, a member of the Alpha class of the Elon Academy, died July 20 following an accident at his home in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to an email from Smith Jackson, vice president and dean of student life.

Glockson graduated from Walter Williams High School in Burlington, N.C. in 2010, according to the email, and recently started a job in New York City.

Deborah Long, professor of education and director of the Elon Academy, issued the following statement about Glockson, in Jackson's email: "“Chris enriched the Elon Academy and all who knew him with his intelligence, unique personality and quick wit. We will miss Chris deeply, but he and his contributions to the Elon Academy as a member of the charter class, and later as a teaching assistant in our philosophy class, will never be forgotten.”

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 7 p.m. July 29 in Oaks 212. Those in need of assistance are encouraged to contact Darris Means, associate director of the Elon Academy, at dmeans@elon.edu or 336.278.6285.
