A traffic stop on South Williamson Avenue near the intersection of Ball Park Road resulted in the arrest of two males for drug possession, said Elon Police Chief Cliff Parker.
Mark Andre Manning, 22, of 205 Culbreath Park Dr., Chapel Hill, N.C., and Cordera Pierre Browning, 19, of 100 Forsyth Dr., A, Chapel Hill, N.C. were arrested for felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver, drug manufacturing, maintaining a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were transported to Alamance County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.
Elon police stopped the vehicle, a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Manning, at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic violation, and both the driver and the passenger were arrested after the vehicle was searched, Parker said. Police found 498.95 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
“Canines did do a search (of the vehicle) and alerted the officers of the drugs,” he said.
The case has since been closed, and both Manning and Browning posted bond and were released Tuesday.
