My assigned article this week was to cover the planning and events surrounding Fellows Weekend. While I always knew it was an important weekend for the perspective students visiting Elon, I never realized how important it also was for Elon itself.
It was described to me numerous times how important Fellows Weekend was to the admissions selection and process. One thing that I learned that suprised me the most is that those students who come to Fellows Weekend, but don't make it into the program usually end up coming to Elon anyway. That really showed me how good this weekend is for the school, and how both the parents and students fall in love with the school, regardless of making it into the program or not.
It was also pointed out to me numerous times that the number of applicants, and their average grades and GPA's, have gone up this year. This really shows how Elon is becoming a more competitive and ideal school for students, which makes me proud to say that I am a student here. The competition to gain admission into this school, and the different Fellows programs, gets harder and harder every year, which always amazes me to think that if I applied to Elon today, I don't know if I would make it in.
