Local Natives and Gorilla Manor

Indie light-weight band Local Native's album Gorilla Manor is a must hear for all souls. From violin tuning chords to shallow drum beats, the tracks featured on the album lack the repetitive sound that leads to the listener boredom which is caused by many indie albums.   Gorilla Manner provides a break from grungy punk and indistinguishable ramble that can often be labeled under indie-rock.

As of late I find my television set tuned to the repetitively monotonous channel known as "The TV Guide channel." Despite the extremely annoying programming located above the scrolling channel list, I continue to switch to a channel that merely shows what is on other channels.

I was wrong about Sen. Al Franken

And I'll be the first to admit it. I was never fond of his books, his characters on SNL were amusing, but never gratuitously hilarious, and I thought that the same warmed-over smarmy attitude would be ill fit for the Senate, regardless of whether he won the election fairly or not. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txx4EpMXX4M] Which he didn't, by the way, if you agree with Bill O'Riley. But Franken has done a fabulous job winning over, starting with his solid line of questioning with Justice Sonia Sotomayor (though it was a bit cheesy), continuing with his excellent filmed debate with his own constituents regarding health care, in which he only revealed his pretentious liberal side a few times, and then subsequently apologized for it while defending his viewpoint and perhaps swaying a few opponents. Guide to Elon University commencement, senior activities for class of 2024

A comprehensive and interactive calendar for Elon University's class of 2024 graduation and commencement events. The bulk of events occur from Tuesday, May 21 to Friday, May 24. All graduates confirmed to participate in the 134th Commencement on May 24 in Schar Center must reserve guest tickets to their diploma ceremony. With the anticipated number of graduates in each diploma ceremony, the maximum number of guest tickets is five. Parking lots will open at 7:15 a.m. for Commencement guest parking. Guests are asked to park at Schar Center only for the ceremony they are attending.

Students, friends, family mourn loss of Elon professor through gathering of community

Over 100 members of the Elon community joined in tears, laughter and hugs at in Numen Lumen at 4:30 p.m. on May 8 to mourn the loss of Jennifer Fish, associate director of Elon’s Teaching Fellows Program. Fish died unexpectedly on the morning of May 7 due to illness. Fish was known to greet everyone with a smile and drop everything to see who stepped into her office. Junior teaching fellow Lindsey Hefty said the program won’t be the same without Fish’s presence. Hefty said she hopes to honor Fish’s memory by being like her: by having unconditional love for everyone — even strangers.
