Looking out into Rhodes Stadium, it may be difficult to believe that this is a home game for the Phoenix. Appalachian State brings fans, and they bring a lot of them. Not only are there fans present, but they are loud and supportive of their team.

On the first play of the game, Elon junior quarterback Scott Riddle completed a 44-yard pass to senior wide receiver Terrell Hudgins. With this pass, Hudgins became the all-time leader in career receiving yards passing Jerry Rice.

In the first half of the Elon football game against Chattanooga, senior wide receiver Terrell Hudgins had three touchdown receptions for a total of 48 yards. This was the first time that Hudgins has recorded three or more touchdown catches in one game.

This season, Elon has overpowered its opponents in the first quarter. So far, the team has outscored its opponents 65-17 in the first quarter. Before the Chattanooga game, the Phoenix had shut out its opponents 41-0 at home in the first fifteen minutes.

There are several new people in Elon's press box donning NFL logos for today's Elon vs. The Citadel football game. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers are represented. This presence brings up a very big question: Are these people just avid NFL fans, or are they something more?

With 9:50 left in the fourth quarter Elon junior quarterback Scott Riddle threw his first interception of the season. This happened when Georgia Southern defensive lineman Brent Russell intercepted the pass in Elon territory.

During the first half, Elon junior quarterback Scott Riddle set two Southern Conference passing records. Riddle set the record as the SoCon's all-time leader in completions with less than four minutes to go in the second quarter. Riddle broke the record with a four-yard pass to senior wide receiver Terrell Hudgins.

To start the game it took Elon only 69 seconds to get the first touchdown. Riddle passed to senior wide receiver Terrell Hudgins for 46 yards. The next play was followed by Riddle's 19-yard touchdown run.

With a five-yard pass from Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner to wide receiver Jordan Williams, the Demon Deacons scored their first touchdown of the night to take an early 7-0 lead over Elon. While this touchdown put the Phoenix at disadvantage from the beginning of the game, it was a previous play that hurt Elon.

During the halftime show of the Elon vs. Wake Forest game, fans got a surprise when the band walked out on the field. Instead of just seeing the maroon and gold of the visitor's band, members of both the Phoenix and the Demon Deacon marching bands took the field.
