Katrina Holtz ’28 is a journalism major with minors in German studies and photography. She is passionate about photography and visual journalism, particularly human interest topics. Outside of Elon News Network, Holtz serves as secretary-treasurer for Elon’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and is a member of Elon’s German Club and Club Swim team.

Crowds gather across North Carolina for third nationwide “No Kings” protests

RALEIGH, N.C. — Thousands of people assembled around the North Carolina State Capitol Building at 1 p.m. on March 28 for the third nationwide “No Kings” protest.According to the No Kings website, there were more than 3,000 planned protests nationwide, with 79 in North Carolina alone.The demonstration was primarily organized by progressive advocacy groups Indivisible and the 50501 movement. They previously held the Hands Off protest in April 2025, and two No Kings protests in June and October 2025.

Class of 2026 reflects on journey at annual kickoff

The class of 2026 gathered for Senior Kickoff Under the Oaks on Sept. 2, marking the first official event of the year for seniors. For many students, the kickoff was a chance to pause and appreciate the journey from convocation to commencement. Environmental science major Olivia Levy said standing Under the Oaks again brought her back to the start of her time at Elon. “It feels like it’s coming full circle,” Levy said. “I’m really proud of all my accomplishments, and I’m excited to see what I do next. I want to contribute to the planet and see real solutions made.”

Elon University student writes, produces original play, ‘CelEXbration’

The Black Box Theatre was filled with laughter and music as students staged a reading of “CelEXbration,” a new play written, produced and directed by senior acting major Sarah Cadol. With shows on Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m and 8 p.m, the production brought audiences into the world of Cierra, a queer teenager confronting her past relationships on her 18th birthday. The staged reading was a fully staged performance; however, actors were still reading from scripts. The production featured basic sound design, props and costumes, with minimal set and little lighting.
