Elon Loses to Duke 86-48 in New Year's Eve Matchup

Though Elon came to the Greensboro Coliseum hoping to celebrate an end-of-year win, the Phoenix lost to the Duke Blue Devils with a final score of 86-48. Elon started the game with Lucas Troutman winning the tip-off and giving Elon the first possession, and senior Sebastian Koch followed up by scoring the first two points for Elon at 17:40.

Mary Carillo will give Elon's 2014 Commencement address

Sports commentator and 1977 French Open Winner Mary Carillo, parent of Elon student Rachel Bowden '14, will be speaking at this year's Commencement exercises. Carillo played four years of professional tennis, winning the French Open Women's Doubles competition in 1977.

"Embrace the grind." Coach Skrosky promises discipline

Walking into the news conference Thursday afternoon, Rich Skrosky wanted to know whether or not he could get another year of eligibility from Elon Football alumnus, Scott Riddle. But when the new football coach addressed a crowd of fans and media representing a team coming off a 2-10 season, there was no talk of wins and losses. "Our whole thing is going to be come to work every day," said Skrosky.

Athletic Director David Blank announced today that Elon's head football coach, Jason Swepson, has been fired. "I want to thank Coach Swepson for his hard work and dedication to our football program during his time at Elon," Blank said.

Elon falls to 2-1 in 83-69 loss to Charlotte

The Elon University Men's Basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, Nov. 15, to UNC Charlotte 83-69 at the Halton Arena. The Phoenix were ahead most of the game until the 49ers pulled ahead by one with six minutes and fifty-three seconds remaining in the game.
