The Elon University women’s lacrosse team is back at Rhodes Stadium for a mid-week game on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. The Phoenix has faced a few setbacks recently that have made them hungry for the makeup match against Longwood University. After two back-to-back losses to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Campbell University, Elon is looking to get back on a winning streak this week as they take on the Lancers.

It was a cool, rainy day at Fetzer Field where the Elon University women’s lacrosse team suffered a 20-5 loss to No. 1 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Phoenix was unable to upset the top-ranked Tar Heels as it struggled to maintain the Tar Heel attack that held possession for most of the game.

The Elon University women’s lacrosse team opened up Atlantic Sun conference play with an exciting win over the University of Detroit Mercy Titans on Wednesday, March 5, in Rhodes Stadium. It was a battle up until the final seconds of the game, but the Phoenix prevailed, winning its first-ever conference game 9-8 and claiming its second straight win this season.

The Phoenix is hosting the Red Flash of St. Francis University (Pa.) in Rhodes Stadium at 1 p.m. The game holds high stakes for the Phoenix as it makes history, but the team isn’t solely focused the competition or the weight that this games holds.

Elon University hired Josh Hexter as the head coach for the Phoenix's women's lacrosse team that will start play in 2014. Hexter has been the associate head coach of the Duke University women's lacrosse program since 2010 and has been on staff for the Blue Devils since the 2005 season. During his time at Duke, the program has averaged nearly 16 wins a season and won three Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championships and an ACC Tournament title. He was also the head women's lacrosse coach at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass., from 1998-2004.
