Elon sophomore Ryan Sease, one of the Merlefest attendees, grew up listening to bluegrass music with his father and fell back in love with it listening to Molly Tuttle’s cover of “Olympia, WA,” by Rancid. Since then, he’s listened to her music constantly.

A night full of music filled Whitley Auditorium as Smooth Progressions performed its 10th Anniversary Spring Concert on April 29. The a cappella group invited its alumni back to Elon to celebrate and to perform with them on stage. President of Smooth Progressions and sophomore Nick Edge says the group is unique compared to other a cappella groups on campus — a quality that heavily influences performances like this one.

The Multifaith Scholars consists of Elon University juniors and seniors who will participate in a mentored undergraduate research program related to interreligious studies. Scholars design their own research project to devote time to, and undertake a major or minor in religious or interreligious studies. Scholars will receive a $5,000 grant annually to support their research and academic development.

Elon University alumna Rosie Darling ’18 released a new indie-pop single, “Nail in the Coffin,” on April 21, along with a music video. The song is a collaboration with Swedish alt-pop artist Boy in Space that tackles the issue of how a relationship should end and what the last interaction should be, according to Darling.
