First woman to serve on Supreme Court dies
Sandra Day O’Connor — the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court — died at 93 years old Dec. 1 due to complications with dementia. O’Connor was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 and played a large role in the decisions of important cases such as affirmative action, abortion, voting rights and many others. O’Connor also dedicated Elon Law in 2006 and spoke as a keynote speaker in 2011.
