In an email sent out to students Wednesday evening, Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley wrote Elon University’s opening was delayed to noon for Elon and Greensboro campus locations tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 20.
Dooley wrote Facilities Management will continue to clear and maintain sidewalks, parking lots and roadways around campus, however with temperatures dropping overnight, roads and sidewalks could still be icy and slippery.
As temperatures rise into Thursday afternoon, Dooley wrote university officials expect conditions to improve.
Dooley shared a delayed start schedule in the email which shows adjusted class times. According to the revised schedule, students with back-to-back classes have five minutes in between class periods.
According to the email, the schedules for Elon Law and graduate program classes will be determined by the program leaders. University offices will open at noon, except for specific offices and services, including Belk Library, Campus Recreation, Campus Safety and Police, Elon Dining, Moseley Center and Mail Services, Student Health Services, and Elon Express shuttles.
The email also referenced the Severe Weather Guide which offers direction to students, faculty or staff who live far from campus or have personal circumstances that could make it unsafe to travel to campus.
According to Dooley, the updates will be shared through the E-Alert system, along with an email.
