Entrepreneur and CEO of the Shark Group consulting agency Daymond John will speak for Fall Convocation, part of the Elon University’s 2023-24 speaker series, at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 29.

John is an entrepreneur and author of six best-sellers including Powershift (2020), a book that discusses his trusted process of building influence, negotiating and nurturing relationships in order to achieve success within one’s field.

Elon University Executive director of Cultural and Special Programs Jeffery Clark said John has an incredible story that is worth sharing with the Elon community.

“He started his business in his mother’s house and then it kind of blew up,” Clark said. “That’s a great story and an inspiration for students who are looking to get into the business world.”

Families of Elon students are expected to attend as Fall Convocation lands on Elon’s parent’s weekend.

Sophomore Abby Monsanto said her excitement for attending John’s speech dates all the way back to her childhood.

“I could not be more excited than to take my dad to see Daymond John at Fall Convocation,” Monsanto said. “I grew up watching Shark Tank with my family, so this is an amazing opportunity and nostalgic moment for me.”

Fall Convocation will take place in the Schar Center where tickets are free for students, faculty and staff and cost $15 for those without an Elon ID.
