The third day of Greek Week was Philanthropy Day, and members of the fraternity and sorority community selected Habitat for Humanity as the week’s philanthropy.

The Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Panhellenic Association raised $34,141 from over 750 supporters as of the 8 p.m. cutoff. The fundraising goal for Wednesday’s single-day fundraiser was $10,000.

Each year, the Elon University campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity raises money and provides the labor needed to build a house for a family in Alamance County who is in need of safe, quality and affordable housing.

Kappa Delta raised the most money and totaled $15,313. Alpha Omicron Pi came in second, raising $11,798. The two organizations were the only to surpass the $10,000 mark as individual organizations. The fraternity that raised the most money was Sigma Pi, raising $1,065.

Students were also encouraged to volunteer at the registration tables for both the American Red Cross blood drive and the Gift of Life. They could also donate blood.

At the end of Day 3, Team 5 surpassed Team 1 in the standings to take the lead.
