LOS ANGELES — Throughout the match, Andrew Wilson, The Pendulum's sports editor, will update this blog as the action happens. It will include analysis of the action on the field from Drake Stadium in Los Angeles.

FINAL - To say UCLA was in total control from the start would be false. Elon had its chances, but the difference in the game is UCLA had four chances, each of which ended with the ball in the back of the net. Elon had its few chances but the Phoenix couldn't get it past the UCLA back four. It was a tough task for the Phoenix from the start and turned out to be too big a hill to climb. Bruins advance to take on University of Connecticut in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

86th minute - Elon with a corner kick but Daniel Lovitz sends his kick long. Goal kick UCLA. This one is just about over. Elon is trying to break the shutout but UCLA's defense has just been too strong.

77th minute - Teams look to be going through the motions a bit. It's cold. This one's all but over.

75th minute - Game is getting away from the referee. Expect a lot of whistles over the final 15 minutes.

62nd minute - Jason Waterman drills one high. It's deflected and out for a corner kick. Elon looking to break Edwards' shutout.

55th minute - GOAL UCLA. Totally against the run of play, the Bruins make it 4-0. This one comes from Victor Chavez and is assisted by Stolz. It's Chavez second of the night and Stolz third assist of the night.

50th minute - Elon has taken control. Like we saw Thursday night, Elon has control out of the locker room. Three quality chances in the first five minutes of the second half.

HALFTIME - Elon trails UCLA 3-0. Elon is gaining momentum into the locker room though. This team isn't going away. They're a second half team, so we'll see what kind of energy the Phoenix comes out with. Normally, it's a high energy, fast-paced style that is tough to handle for opposing defenses. This is the No. 1 team in the country, though. Fourty-five minutes to go, and maybe 45 minutes left on Elon's season.

43rd minute - Charles Howard gets a yellow card. It's a weak card to me. He was going after a loose ball in UCLA territory.

42nd minute - Nathan Diehl with the steal and puts Elon on attack. Backing up what I just said. And as the UCLA radio announcers just mentioned, it's two halves. UCLA can do it in one, but it can go the other way, too. Remember, UCLA gave up five goals last year in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to San Diego on this field.

38th minute - I'm sticking to it. Elon is competing. It's 3-0, but it's three quality goals. They're a second half team, as we've seen all year and was proved against Clemson three days ago. Elon was just called for offsides but seems to be pulling a bit of momentum back from the Bruins. It's going to be a tough task, but Elon is still competing.

33rd minute - James Brace with the quality chance in close but it clears the penalty area. Down 3-0, Elon is still playing with poise and aggression.

31st minute - GOAL UCLA. Aaron Simmons puts it home on a set play off a free kick. Pac-12 Player of the Year Stolz with the assist on the kick. Phoenix looked to be settling in on the different playing surface but UCLA puts the third one home. 3-0 Bruins.

22nd minute - GOAL UCLA. Joe Sofia nails a long corner kick off the foot of Leo Stolz for the goal. Had a lot of time to wind up and drill the shot top-right corner. 2-0 Bruins.

20th minute - Daniel Lovitz has been known to do some fancy things with the ball at his feet. So far today, he's been stopped both times attempting to work through UCLA defenders. This Bruins defense is strong. He's not going to have as easy a time tonight against the UCLA back four.

16th minute - UCLA taking control. They are No. 1 after all. Elon struggling to gain and keep possession at this point. UCLA ripped another close shot over goal just two minutes after Chavez scored.

12th minute - GOAL UCLA. Victor Chavez scores after the ball went through the box on a cross that couldn't find the foot a any attacking Bruins. It was put back into the box and crossed again where Chavez put it in. 1-0 Bruins.

8th minute - Elon looking a lot better than it did Thursday night against Clemson. UCLA is not dominating play like the Tigers did in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

8:01 p.m. - We're underway from Drake Stadium. It's a small crowd tonight. Nothing like Rudd Field on Thursday night.
