Typically during election time, stories that center on the candidates and race dominate the issue. Our publication is no different. The Pendulum presented students with a voting guide and a comprehensive way to see each candidate's platform. Nevertheless, we understand The Pendulum is a weekly paper and the voting period ends the night of distribution day. Still, we believe the content is still relevant. Even after elections, it is important to know your representatives' running points and position. In addition to the front page and page 2 display, the issue included:

Trustees approve lowest increase in tuition since 2004: The Elon University Board of Trustees recently approved the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget, which includes an undergraduate tuition increase of 3.99 percent. Tuition will total $28,633 with room, board and fees set at $9,827 for the 2012- 2013 school year. Breaking the gender binary: Junior Laura Strum leads charge to offer gender-neutral housing. The junior and vice president of SPECTRUM, Elon’s gay-straight alliance, first became involved with the issue as a result of a story that ran in The Pendulum last spring, which included a quote from an administrator inviting a student to take on the initiative. Though she has since lost touch with the staff member and has been working individually for some time, she plans to present a formal proposal to Residence Life and Elon administration this semester.
