Sophomore Ryan Budden renounced his candidacy for SGA Executive President this morning for personal reasons, according to Sam Warren, current SGA Executive President. Budden approached Warren in the SGA office around 9 a.m. this morning and formally withdrew from the race.
“My understanding is that (Budden) felt that he didn’t have enough time to devote to the student body and the position (of Executive President),” Warren said.
The voting process ends today at 5 p.m., and it is unclear whether votes can be recast without restarting the entire process.
“I don’t believe that students who voted (for Budden) will be able to revote, but this will not affect the percentage of votes received by the other candidates,” Warren said.
The results remain scheduled to be released at 6 p.m. tonight, and a run-off election between the remaining three candidates may still be held tomorrow to determine the final victor.
