This week signaled the first full spring term edition produced under the new staff. We're still working out a few kinks, but we expect to smooth out the production process as the year continues. Despite late-night corrections and rearranging content, we're happy the sections contain a variety of articles that address student issues and portray university life. Some of the strengths include:
The Elon School, an independent high school adjacent to the university, is searching for a new home for the 2012-2013 academic year. Elon Homes and Schools for Children will give the school, in name, to a local parent group that intends to operate the school after the senior class graduates in June, said Fred Grosse, president of the Elon Homes and Schools for Children.
Residence Life distributed letters to rising juniors and seniors with revised information concerning housing selection for the 2012-2013 academic year. Based on student feedback, rising juniors and seniors can return to their same residence hall space during phase one of the housing process, said Niki Turley, assistant dean of students.
When Cliff Parker assumes the responsibilites of Town of Elon police chief March 5, he is beginning more than a new job; he is returning home.
Allowance of liquor by the drink increases diversity in bars and restaurants in the Town of Elon, according to Jeff MacKenzie, co-owner of The Fat Frogg. Constituents voted to pass a Nov. 8 referendum permitting sale of liquor by the drink in the Town of Elon beginning Jan. 1.
Elon University's Residence Life is developing a new housing policy for juniors and seniors in an effort to fill spaces in The Station at Mill Point, according to Elaine Turner, director of Residence Life. To encourage juniors and seniors to move to the new complex, current residents in the Crest and Oaks will not have the option to stay in their current housing assignments.
