The Elon University softball team split the first two of a three game set with Southern Conference foe Samford University at Hunt Softball Park on April 26, losing the first game 3-1 before returning the favor in the day’s second game with a 6-1 win.

But with a struggling offense and a rash of injuries to key contributors, including closer David Robertson, who suffered a left groin strain and was sent to the 15-day disabled list on April 7, the Yankees are fortunate to have not lost ground in the American League East.

But Longwood University began its furious comeback that saw the Lancers push three runs across in the seventh inning for a 6-5 victory on April 16 in a midweek nonconference game in Farmville, Va.

If your favorite men’s college basketball team is lucky enough to have won four games and cut down the nets on its way to the Final Four, then you should strongly consider going. If you have the means to buy a set of tickets — which isn’t easy, believe me — plus can stomach the sky-high hotel and food expenses, than you have the opportunity to go and experience a remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime event.

The Elon University softball team, usually a good run-producing squad, was limited to just three runs against North Carolina A&T State University April 9 in Greensboro, N.C. But behind a dominant performance from junior starter Caitlin O’Shea and timely hits, the Phoenix held off the Aggies 3-0 in the two teams’ second game of a home-and-home series.

The Elon University softball team was pounded 12-2 by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the rubber game of the two teams’ three game set at Frost Park Stadium on April 6. It was the third straight conference series the Phoenix has lost, having also lost two out of three at Georgia Southern University on March 22 and 23, and home against Furman University on March 29 and 30.
