Update: 10:30 a.m., Jan 18, 2017

Elon University will be closed Thursday because of lingering snow and ice, according to an email from Jon Dooley, vice president for Student Life. 

Alamance County received approximately six to eight inches of snow Wednesday , causing class to be canceled. Classes are cancelled again for Thursday due to dangerous travel conditions. 

Dooley also said the University plans to re-open at 10 a.m. Friday, but more information will "be distributed this evening." 

Services Hours: 

Most of the dining options were already open when the University received the email about closing, so the hours of closing are affected. 

Lakeside Dining Hall will serve lunch until 2:00 p.m. and will be open for dinner from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. 

Biscuitville and Einstein Bros. Bagels will close at 2 p.m. Fountain Market inside Clohan Hall will close at 8 p.m. Acorn Coffee Shop will close at 9:00 p.m.

Topio’s will close at 11:00 p.m. Qdoba will be open 3:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Other locations may open as conditions improve and staff can travel to campus safely. Midnight Meals will be canceled Thursday evening.

Regarding transportation, the Danieley Tram and all BioBus shuttles will start at 11:00 a.m. The Downtown/East Burlington Route will start at 2:30 p.m., as scheduled. University Drive Line will start at 4:00 p.m., as scheduled. E-Rides will begin at 7:00 p.m., as scheduled.

The Moseley Center will maintain normal hours, closing at 1 a.m., but Mail Services will be closed. 

Student Health Services will be open between noon - 4 p.m. by appointment. The “sick rides” Health Services shuttle will not be in operation.
