It's no ordinary walk in the park at Hanging Rock State Park. It's just 30 miles north of Winston-Salem and is full of campgrounds and hiking trails.

The most visited and photographed site is the overarching rock at the peak of the mountains. It's about 2,500 feet high and looks a lot more dangerous than it actually is.

The walk up only takes about 45 minutes, but it's a lot of steep hills and rocky terrain.

You'll need your muscular strength for more than the hike. In order to get the classic picture hanging off the edge, you might want to bulk up on your upper body strength.

The views and the sanctuary up above make the workout worth it.
