It was dark in Udaipur, India. Elon University senior Jack Halligan and junior Jordan Nulsen had adjusted to driving rickshaws in the northern part of India, but not here. In Udaipur, a taxi driver had to take the wheel because the roads were too narrow to fit two rickshaws. They’d nearly made it up a huge hill when they saw headlights from the other side. The taxi driver yanked the rickshaw into reverse and let the vehicle fly back down the hill, pressing on the horn as he went.

Several people had approached Don Webb about the odor his hogs created in their community in Wilson County, N.C. At one point, Webb had 400 sows on his property. Hundreds of pigs produced hundreds of pounds of manure, all of which was channeled into a hog lagoon, where it was treated and distributed on spray fields for crop production.

Considering the snow and brutal cold we’ve been forced to deal with recently, it is certainly hard to believe that Spring Break is just around the corner. However, being a second semester senior, I must admit it has definitely been on my mind. Jan Register drives to her job at Elon University’s Numen Lumen Multi-Faith Center every morning and enters a building that promotes open-mindedness. When she drives home at night into Alamance County, she must convert to a Christian-only mindset for her family and friends. Little do they know she accepts atheism, among other faiths.

As college students involved in a variety of organizations, working around an extensive class schedule and pursuing various leadership roles on campus, it’s very easy to get solely absorbed in the environment around you. Elon University senior Ashley Fowler did not succumb to this pressure. Since the fall of her sophomore year, she has moved beyond Elon’s boundaries by passionately researching LGBTQ rights in Lithuania and Croatia.

Classes were canceled, and Elon University’s Young Commons was blanketed in snow. Within a matter of seconds, what was once a quiet scene of fresh snowfall became a full-fledged battlefield, and white balls of fluff were flying in every direction. Students approached both ends of the commons armed with snowballs.
