Kylee Bushway is a sucker for "Criminal Minds," but she hates scary movies. She will eat any kind of vegetable that is put in front of her, she’s a die-hard Patriots fan and she loves country music. If asked what her favorite color is, she’ll reply purple in a heartbeat. A former soccer star and current Elon University senior who sports long brown hair and a “110% ??” pin, she loves to laugh and is often seen with friends. But, below the surface, there aren’t many college women like her.

Dirty, sick, gross, nasty – words to describe the experience of stepping in dog poop? Wrong. Students tend to use these words to describe sexually transmitted infections that affect 25% of college students and 50% of the general population. Why are we so grossed out by STIs, but not by runny noses or strep throat? What can we do to lessen the negative stigma around STIs and eliminate these attitudes and beliefs? If you follow these simple steps, we’ll be well on our way to creating a culture where STIs are viewed in a more realistic way.

As the semester tears on with endless homework, studying and rigorous all-nighters, it’s important to keep yourself centered and stress free. With autumn in full swing, the joys of the season, which include warm pumpkin pie, Halloween Costumes and a delicious Thanksgiving feast, are fast approaching. Despite our fall season favorites, there is one unfortunate element that catches all of us off guard: dry skin. The change of temperature and chilled air can cause dry, chapped and uncomfortable skin. If it is not taken care of, this can spiral out of control in the following winter months.
