Two pedestrians killed in train collision Saturday

A train struck and killed two persons at 6:48 p.m. Saturday on the tracks near the railroad crossing on South Glen Raven Road, according to a press release from the Burlington police department. The two persons were identified as Lawrence Chadwick Hyde, 23, and Christopher Thomas Isley, 24, both of 1119 N. Park Ave. Burlington.

Pandora's Pies opens soon under co-owners of Fat Frogg

Student robbed at gunpoint near campus

John Peterson took long-time Elon Board of Aldermen member Lawrence Slade's seat in this year's November election. He's been married to his wife, Shannon, for 14 years and has one son, John. He received his undergraduate degree from NC State University and his MBA at Campbell University. Peterson has owned his own business, The Peterson Agency, since 1999 and has lived in Elon for eight years.

Conference explores relationship between work, identity

Liquor by the drink passed in local election

The wait is almost over for residents of the town of Elon who want to purchase liquor by the drink without traveling to nearby cities. In a referendum on Tuesday's Nov. 8 ballot, constituents voted to pass a mixed beverage law that will allow for the sale of liquor at bars and restaurants in Elon, a change that will go into effect in January.
