Elon University baseball extends winning streak to four games with dominant offense, pitching

It was a strong win for the Elon University baseball team as the Phoenix surpassed USC Upstate 14-1 during the midweek match-up at Latham Park. Graduate student right-handed pitcher Joe Sprake began on the mound, his first start of the 2022-23 season, and said he got his momentum going from the first pitch.

Elon University men’s tennis has winning streak snapped by Presbyterian

GREENSBORO – The Elon University men’s tennis team suffered its first loss in March to the Presbyterian College Blue Hose on Sunday afternoon at the Piedmont Indoor Center. The match location was changed from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center after unexpected rain this morning.

Elon University softball completes win for Strike Out Cancer

In its annual Strike Out Cancer game, the Elon University softball team faced another conference opponent in Towson for the rubber match of the three-game series and defeated the Tigers 12-4 in five innings. The game started off with a ceremonial first pitch by breast cancer survivor Ashanti Marshall, representing the Burlington-based nonprofit Little Pink Houses of Hope.

Elon University baseball sweeps series, fights cancer with haircuts

Going for the series sweep and the eighth straight Colonial Athletic Association victory, the Elon University baseball team showed out strong, shutting out the Delaware Blue Hens 1-0. But the best part came after, when the team stayed to stand up in the fight against pediatric cancer, auctioning off haircuts to raise $7,738 for Vs. Cancer.

Elon University softball stages comeback, splits doubleheader

After being shutout 2-0 to start the doubleheader against Towson University, sophomore left fielder Kaitlyn Wells stepped up to bat for the Elon University softball team, who was down 3-1 to begin the bottom of the second inning. Four pitches later, she launched a home run, scoring freshman designated player Mauri Murray and tying the game 3-3.

Elon bats remain hot in victory over Delaware

The Elon University baseball team defeated the University of Delaware Blue Hens in the second game of its weekend series, moving to 7-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Strong pitching and powerful bats allowed the Phoenix to overcome an early 2-0 deficit on the way to an 8-3 victory.

Elon University baseball thrashed in matchup against No. 2 Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM – Freshly off a six-game win streak, the Elon University baseball team traveled to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons for its toughest game of the season on Tuesday. Wake Forest entered the game as the second ranked team in the country and the ninth best odds to win the 2023 Men’s College World Series. The Demon Deacons shutout the Phoenix 20-0.

Elon volleyball setter and junior Ericka Link built her social media platform in 2019 and 2020 on TikTok where she gained 1.3 million followers; however, as brands began to reach out to her, Link had no choice but to turn down their offers, as college athletes were not allowed to monetize their names, images, and likeness (NIL). It was then that Link deleted her TikTok account in early 2021, and decided to take a step back from the spotlight.

Elon University women’s basketball pursues CAA championship

After the final sound of the buzzer March 2, the Elon University women’s basketball team earned one more home victory and walked off the court at Schar Center for the last time in the 2022-23 season. Five players, including graduate student guard Lenaejha Evans and graduate student center Evonna McGill, walked off the court for their final time in maroon and gold.

The Elon University men’s tennis team could not be stopped this weekend, winning back-to-back matches against the Hampton University Pirates 7-0 Saturday and the Wofford College Terriers 6-1 Sunday. Sunday’s win over the Terriers extended the Phoenix’s 6-0 undefeated streak at home.
