Danieley apartments A through F will see phased renovations during the 2026-2027 academic year. Director of Residence Life Kirsten Carrier said the specifics of what the upgrades will entail have not been finalized yet, but the flooring, lighting and kitchen appliances will likely be replaced.

As long as construction follows its timeline, Danieley D, E and F will be worked on from June to December, and Danieley A, B and C will follow in the spring. Carrier said students living in buildings A, B and C will be required to move in December to the newly renovated apartments, and Residence Life will assist with this process.

“We don’t want to be disruptive during finals week, but we also know that that’s going to be when the transition is happening,” Carrier said. “We’re definitely going to be looking at hiring some external mover support.”

The Danieley neighborhood is a popular spot for sophomores to live because of the apartment style living it offers. When asked about how the required move in December might impact their decision to live in Danieley apartments, some freshmen had mixed opinions. Elon freshman Toby Richardson said he wouldn’t mind the move.

“I feel like if I’m with my friends and having fun, I think it wouldn’t matter too much,” Richardson said.

Elon freshman Mattie Pierce said she doesn’t want to pack all her things again halfway through the year.

“I wouldn’t want to do that,” Pierce said. “It’s just kind of annoying.”

With half of the Danieley A-F apartments closed for each semester, about 90 beds would be unavailable. Carrier said she is not worried about having less space available because the current freshman class has fewer students than previous classes.

“We actually have more open spaces available for our upperclass students next year than we anticipate needing,” Carrier said. “Right now, as we crunch the numbers, having this 90-ish bed spaces offline for each semester isn’t going to affect our housing selection processes.”

Current freshmen will be assigned a housing selection time March 3rd and will begin choosing their housing March 12th.
