Town of Elon Police Chief Kelly Blackwelder announced the appointment of Lieutenant Kedrick King as new assistant police chief over operations.

According to the police department, King has previously worked as a patrol officer, master police officer, sergeant and lieutenant with the Elon police department before being promoted Sept. 11.

King will serve as second-in-command and, according to the police department press release, holds a master’s degree in criminal justice and homeland security from Liberty University and is a recent graduate of the Alamance County Racial Equity Cohort (ACRE), a “7-month cohort series sponsored by Impact Alamance aimed to develop leaders and professionals into inclusive leaders.”

The police department press release stated “King’s leadership style, familiarity with the department, problem-solving skills, and ability to continue building community partnerships will be assets” to the town of Elon.
