Town of Elon Police and Elon University police responded to reports of a fight and gunshots outside Paulie’s Pub and Grill early this morning, according to a crime alert sent to students.

According to the crime alert, at 12:44 a.m. police responded to a call about a fight at the pub. Before the police arrived at the pub, warning shots were fired into the air to disperse the fight. No one was injured.

Town police are investigating the incident, according to an email from Jon Dooley, vice president for student life.

Owner of Paulie's Tammi Perry said the fight started with two women, one boyfriend of one of the women went to break it up and another man stepped in and punched the first man in the mouth.

She said the two men involved in the fight are  “good people, so I don’t know what happened.”

The town of Elon Police did not respond to Elon News Network's phone call for more details on the incident.
