The Department of Campus Safety and Police will be adding new security technology ,according to an email sent out to the student body this afternoon by Smith Jackson. This project is in partnership with Instructional and Campus Technologies.

They are currently updating the existing 440 cameras on campus and then adding fifty more security cameras, 14 license plate-reading cameras and new storage servers.

The new cameras will be placed in "strategic locations" across campus to help enhance security in certain areas.

In the e-mail, Jackson credits the existing cameras in helping to solve several cases in hopes that the new addition will continue efforts to maintain a safe campus.

It was not stated when the cameras will be installed.
