Cleanup is underway in the aftermath of a frozen pipe that burst in the attic of the neuroscience lab on South Campus last week, adding another item to Physical Plant's mounting weather-related to-do list.

The lab, located in the Psychology and Human Services building, sustained extensive damage Feb. 20 and is closed until further notice. The pipe has been repaired, and the space is now being dried so that new ceilings, walls and other finishes can be installed starting Wednesday, according to Paul Holt, maintenance control manager for Physical Plant.

The full extent of the damage — including a valuation of the damage — was not immediately disclosed.

In the meantime, research has been halted for Mathew Gendle, an associate professor for psychology who makes use of the lab.

"?We can't do any research until it is repaired," Gendle wrote in an email. "There is nothing else to say."
