Well, well, well. What is this Mr. Jon Lester? Vaseline maybe?

Sure, the accusations are coming from a biased source, but there's merit to this given there's visuals and not just text.

Tyler Melling, a Class-A pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, tweeted a picture of Lester on the mound with what looks to be a foreign substance in the corner of his glove. Yes, Jon, that's illegal.

This isn't the first time the Cardinals have called someone out on an illegal substance, and it's not the first time this season a Boston pitcher has been called out for something that shouldn't be on a baseball.

In the 2006 World Series, the Cardinals called out Kenny Rogers and accused him of using pine tar and scuffing the ball. For his next act, Rogers pushed a cameraman and the Tigers lost the series 4-1.

Earlier this year, a Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster called out Boston starter Clay Buchholz for a substance on his arm. Nothing really came of the incident, though.

Lester led the Red Sox rotation throughout the season with a 15-8 record and 3.75 ERA while Buchholz was on the bench seemingly all year because of yet another lingering injury.

If this is real and Lester doctored the ball, it's sad. But the truth is we'll probably never get to the bottom of it. Who knows, it could've been grease from fried chicken between innings.

Either way, come on, Jon. You're one of the biggest success stories in baseball having battled leukemia to become the ace of the Red Sox. You've got talent. For the love of the game, don't taint it.
