Sometimes gym routines can get a little boring and repetitive. Or you might just find it hard to get the motivation to go. Luckily the Elon University Fitness Center has a variety of fun group exercise classes with some awesome teachers. Here are a few of my favorites:

Cycling This is probably my favorite exercise. Riding in a group on stationary bikes, cycling incorporates sprints, hills, and jumps all to the beat and length of the music. If you want to sweat this is definitely the class to do it. My favorite part of the class is that it’s up to you to determine the intensity. You can go as hard or leisurely as you want, making it your workout, and when you are surrounded by others it’s hard not to try to look good. Classes run Mondays at 4:15 p.m. and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Kickboxing

Not only does this class make feel like a badass, but it’s also a great workout. With combinations of punches and kicks it’s easy to break a sweat early on. Other than typical kickboxing, the class includes cardio, stairs, wall sits, core and stretching as a cool down for an all-around awesome workout. Classes run Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m.

Habit

Other than classes that blast you with cardio, Habit is a great way to exercise your whole body. It focuses on your hips, abs, butt, and inner thighs – the first letter of each area combined to create a great workout. Get ready to feel the burn because you will be sore the next day. Classes run Mondays at 6:45 p.m., Tuesdays at 4:15 p.m., Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 6:45 p.m.

Word to the wise

You can attend any of these classes by purchasing a group exercise pass for $20 at the front desk of the fitness center. Classes also tend to fill up pretty quickly, so make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes early to reserve yourself a spot.
