Why are students always more stressed in the Spring?

Winter is over and Spring begins to roll in, and so do the stresses of being a student. Everyone has enjoyed their holidays and comes back to school ready to start applying to internships, getting ready for the second semester and even possibly getting ready to graduate!

Being a sophomore, I have realized that the stresses, obviously, begins to add up and your semesters seem to become even harder. Not that this is new but it almost feels like the competition is getting even worse than it has been in the past.

One of the most stressful things, I feel, for students in the Spring time is internship applications. It is the time where students are frantically sending out emails to corporations and companies, and cold-calling places seeing if they are in need of interns for the summer. It is what we do. We want to succeed and in order to succeed, we need to start somewhere and gain some experience. Where do we gain that experience? Well, we have to get it from someone who is willing to take the chance on us, and offer us an internship.

The second probably most stressful part of the spring is finals. At the end of the Spring semester you are done with that year of school there is no "making it up in the next semester" for that year. Your GPA for that year is done and you have to move on. Your finals will determine whether or not you end up with a good GPA or a bad GPA for that year.

Overall, the spring is a beautiful time of the year, but brings about lots of stresses for students. A challenge that a lot of students face in the Spring time is focus and concentration. The weather starts to get nicer and suddenly it becomes harder to concentrate on school. You are sitting in class and you look out the window and it's gorgeous - well there goes your concentration.

The spring is a wonderful time of year, but ask students and you will get two answers - I love the events and the weather in the Spring at Elon, but I hate the other parts!
