After the Phoenix Opening Tournament that was scheduled last week, but due to inclement weather was rescheduled, the Elon University softball team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Citrus Classic. The tournament was held from Feb. 20-22 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.

The Elon University softball team swept all three games this weekend against the University of South Carolina Upstate and Radford University. The third game on Sunday, Feb. 8 was against Radford, which the Phoenix defeated the night before and repeated Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Feb. 7, the Elon University softball team took the field at Hunt Park to take on the University of South Carolina Upstate in the first game of a doubleheader. The Phoenix defeated the Spartans 4-3.

The Elon women’s lacrosse team opened its season with a win Saturday, Jan. 31 against the Kennesaw State University Owls. Shaking off the rust was not too challenging for the Phoenix who set a new program record for goals scored in a game with 24. Elon won 24-8.

The Elon women’s basketball team traveled to the North Carolina coast on Thursday, Jan. 22 to take on Colonial Athletic Association opponent, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. A late comeback just came up short, giving the Phoenix its third CAA loss of the season by a score of 76-68.

The Elon University men’s basketball team nearly had a record setting night, but not one to be proud of. In its game against Towson University, Elon scored the lowest number of points (17) in the first half since Jan. 28, 2010 when it scored a mere 16.

From the opening tip, the Elon University men's basketball team seemed to lack the intensity and energy they typically exert every night. The College of Charleston Cougars came into Alumni Gym on Wednesday Jan. 14, and took it over. The Phoenix fell by a final score of 66-50.

The Phoenix kept their win streak going with its fourth straight victory on Saturday, Jan. 3, against Drexel University. The trip to Philadelphia also resulted in Elon’s first Colonial Athletic Association conference win. The final score was 77-67.

On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Elon men’s basketball team traveled to Columbia, Missouri to tip-off against the University of Missouri Tigers. Coming into the game on a three game winning streak, the Phoenix was ready to battle its Southeastern Conference opponent.

The Elon University men’s tennis team released its 2015 schedule today, Dec. 9. The Phoenix will look to prove to the Colonial Athletic Association why it was the Southern Conference Champion last year.
