With a five-yard pass from Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner to wide receiver Jordan Williams, the Demon Deacons scored their first touchdown of the night to take an early 7-0 lead over Elon. While this touchdown put the Phoenix at disadvantage from the beginning of the game, it was a previous play that hurt Elon.
During the halftime show of the Elon vs. Wake Forest game, fans got a surprise when the band walked out on the field. Instead of just seeing the maroon and gold of the visitor's band, members of both the Phoenix and the Demon Deacon marching bands took the field.
With just under five minutes to go in the first half, Wake Forest's wide receiver Devon Brown appeared to fumble the ball after a pass from quarterback Riley Skinner, but the fumble was ruled after Brown was down, meaning there would be no turnover.
Rookie linebacker Aaron Curry, former member of the Demon Deacon's football squad, made his first career start in the National Football League for the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday. The team played the St. Louis Rams in Week 1 of the NFL season. Curry recorded 4 tackles in the game to help the team win 28-0.

Junior quarterback Scott Riddle is best known to the Elon Phoenix fans as the leader of the team. The man who takes the snap and calls the plays. But tonight against Davidson, Riddle is doing more than just playing quarterback. He is also punting.
With his most recent catch, senior wide receiver Terrell Hudgins reached 100 receiving yards before the first quarter ended against Davidson- the 19th time that this has happened in his college football career. This adds to the record he already holds in the Southern Conference for most games with 100 receiving yards or more.
In a new pre-game tactic in college football, both teams in their entirety now walk out to the center of the field to shake hands with their opponent. It's an interesting way for the game of football to bring a new level of sportsmanship to the game.
