Best known for their breakout role role in guacamole, avocados have taken the world by storm. With over 100 different varieties, there is a variety of avocado everyone is sure to love. 

Avocados can be used as a healthy substitute for butter in baked goods, add a new twist to a salad, and can be used as a moisturizing component for your skin or hair. They are high in monounsaturated fats, which can help lower cholesterol and improve overall heart health. With 4 grams of protein, avocados have a higher percentage than almost all other varieties of fruit. Avocados are also high in important vitamins and minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, and even contain double the amount of potassium as a banana.

Classic Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado
  • Slice of bread (any type)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. red pepper flake

Instructions:

  1. Toast bread until golden brown.
  2. Remove pit from avocado and remove outer flesh.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash avocado with a fork.
  4. Spread mashed avocado on the toasted bread.
  5. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and red pepper flake as desired

Sunnyside Up

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado
  • Slice of bread (any type)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Instructions:

  1. Toast bread until golden brown.
  2. Remove pit from avocado and remove outer flesh.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash avocado with a fork.
  4. In a skillet, heat 1 Tbsp butter.
  5. Crack egg into skillet, cover, and cook to your liking.
  6. Spread mashed avocado on the toasted bread.
  7. Top with egg and sprinkle with salt and pepper as desired.

A Sweeter Take

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado
  • Slice of bread (any type)
  • ½ cup strawberries
  • ¼ cup goat cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. Toast bread until golden brown.
  2. Remove pit from avocado and remove outer flesh.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash avocado with a fork.
  4. Thinly slice strawberries.
  5. Spread mashed avocado on toasted bread.
  6. Layer sliced strawberries on top.
  7. Sprinkle with goat cheese.
  8. In a small saucepan, heat on medium.
  9. Combine sugar and balsamic vinegar in the saucepan and heat until boiling.
  10. Take off the heat (should resemble a syrup).
  11. Drizzle on toast as desired.
