There’s nothing like adding a few of these season’s wearable trends to your wardrobe and revamping your style for both on and off campus!

 1. Cropped tops

Seen at Badgley Mischka, Christian Dior, Thakoon and Roberto Cavalli this year, cropped jackets and cropped tops are perfect for casual wear to class or to dress up on a night out, a dinner, or even an interview for those of you applying for internships or jobs!

Pair with a dress, pants or a skirt for a more formal approach, or with leggings, jeans or shorts for a more casual look. A high-waisted short with the cropped jacket combination would also be a perfect go-to casual look to add contrast and a little edge to the flattering structure.

2. Floral Prints

A staple for Spring and Summer collections. Seen at Elie Saab, Christian Siriano and Oscar de la Renta, this look is very versatile and can be worn in many ways.

Simply worn, the floral print can be worn as a dress, top, skirts or shorts. To mix it up, wearing a floral print with a leather accessory or jacket adds another dimension to the outfit. Also, mixing stripes or other prints with the floral could also add to the ensemble. For class, throw on a cardigan or jacket over a floral print dress and add some boots for a fun and comfortable look.

 3. Pastels

Soft springtime shades were seen at almost every show during this year’s Fashion Week. Pastels are not only easy to add to your outfit, but you can find choices anywhere for great prices. Also, by picking your most flattering color you can incorporate the trend into any form you want! Whether it’s an accessory or a jumpsuit, it’s easily adaptable.

Don’t be afraid to be bold with the pastels too. Mix them up, add a floral or striped element to it, but most importantly, add in a personal touch.

4. Embellished Clothing

Embellished clothing is one of the most fun ways to adopt a wearable trend. You can pick whichever piece of your outfit you’d like to have embellishment on, and which type. Most common on the runway this year were intricate beading, sequins, and metal pieces.

To introduce this trend into your wardrobe, you can either start off small by introducing one item with embellishment, such as metal studded leggings, or you could wear a jacket or top with embellishment and beading. Forever21 has great options with affordable prices.

5. Sweatshirts - revamped

Yes, sweatshirts. Seen at Prabal Gurung, Theyskens, Peter Som and Alexander Wang, sweatshirts are one of the spring’s hottest trends.

Many have been adapted with sheer pieces in the tops, printed silk, cropped versions, and with embellishment.

To add some personal flair into this trend, try combining it with a skirt or formal shorts to dress it up. Either way, this will be one of the easiest and most comfortable trends to adopt into your wardrobe.

6. Wide Leg and Tuxedo-Athletic Trousers

Ditch the too-tight leggings and uncomfortably stiff jeans for the new trend: wide leg, loose fitting trousers and pants. They look amazing with crop tops, sweaters, blouses, or virtually any other type of top. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but very stylish and affordable. There are even options at Target!

Third year Elon University student Olivia Niemeyer states her favorite way to wear the athletic trousers: “I love pairing the athletic tuxedo trousers with a fun t-shirt and kitten heels, you can also dress them up with a blouse or dress them down with some high-top sneakers.”
