Women

Pajama Style Pants

Pajama style pants have been popping up everywhere this summer and fall.  For fall we’re seeing this style in a different array of patterns. Matching these pants with a dressy top and cute pair of flats is perfect for a dinner with girlfriends or a date night.  You can also dress them down for an everyday look with an oversized cotton t-shirt and boots.

Over-Sized Sweaters

Yes, they’re back.  Sweaters are usually seen as a piece for more casual events. However, this season we are pairing sweaters with statement necklaces, dressier bottoms and heels making them appropriate for dressier occasions.  A great way to wear an over-sized sweater is to combine it with a leather mini and a statement necklace.  As your pulling fall clothes back out from storage, look at the sweaters you’ve accumulated with a different perspective.  Change it up and take the challenge!

Patterns

New York’s Fashion Week featured outfits with bold and crazy pattern combinations.  Patterns included Polka dots, stripes, animal print, tribal, floral, hounds tooth, etc. When choosing what patterns to mix keep in mind color pallets.  Traditional softer colors mix better with other soft colors and same goes for bold colors.  It makes the transition of patterns seem effortless.

Men

Plaid Shirts

The traditional plaid button-up shirt has been seen for decades in men fashion.  It seems that as fashion evolves, the plaid shirt sticks around. There are generally two types of plaid shirts. The first is made out of heavier fabric making it warmer and more casual.  The second is a plaid pattern on a dress shirt.  If your using the first style, pair it with light washed jeans, another top trend, and casual oxford shoes.  The second can be paired with dark jeans or khaki slacks with a dressy loafer.

Light Washed Denim Jeans

Most people associate light washed denim with spring and summer seasons.  However, pairing light denim bottoms with darker tops and accents is a huge trend this fall.  Leave the light washed denim out all year round and incorporate it with other traditional fall pieces to stay true to the trend.

Over-Sized Sweaters

Like women, men traditional wear sweaters in the fall. Combining sweaters with different bottoms can steer your sweater into many different directions ranging from school to work to holiday events.   Another great combo to keep in mind is all of the trends above combined into one outfit; just saying.
