The Elon University women’s tennis team made quick work of the Radford University Highlanders on Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, winning 7-0.

The Phoenix jumped on Radford right from the start, winning all three doubles matches, including juniors Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansaker’s ninth win on the season in the No 1 doubles position.

The Phoenix didn’t let up, as Johnston and Jansaker won their individual matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

Juniors Viviana Stavreva and Bryn Khoury then won their matches in the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots handedly, winning 6-4, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2. respectively.

Senior Briana Berne and sophomore Barbora Lazarova were able to close out the Phoenix victory, neither dropping a single game en route to straight set, 6-0, 6-0 victories.

The win was the Phoenix’s eighth in a row, which ties the team’s record for most consecutive matches won, previously set by the 2010 squad.

Elon will return to action this Thursday, Feb. 28, when the Phoenix take on in-state rival University of North Carolina at Charlotte in a 2:30 p.m. match in Charlotte.
